Good little TV
Received TV very quickly, installed it on my sailboat to replace old non-digital TV. VERY sensitive with amplified marine antenna, receives 28 channels in Tampa Bay FL area. Very easy to set up, intuitive in operation. EXCELLENT PICTURE.

ONLY complaint is low audio output, 100% is barely adequate, which was unexpected as all other larger Samsung TV’s I have(3 sized 22″, 32″, 40″) have very good audio.

This is not a TV for us country bumpkins.
We purchased this TV thinking we would not need a converter box for it. We purchased a new antenna and installed it on the roof of our garage, where the analog antenna had been. The TV wasn’t strong enough to bring in the one channel that the converter box has helped with. We are not happy with the whole digital system. The picture we do get with the new TV, converter box and antenna is very good; I also like the slim size for my kitchen counter. If I lived closer to the digital signal, I would have rated it a 5. bad purchase
would have loved to give it zero stars! i bought this tv in december 2008. from day 1, it had problems with pixelation, every now and then, red and green pixel lines showed up but then disappeared. they appeared with cable, with dish network channels and with DVDs. now, it’s august 2009, and this tv has turned into a completely useless piece of furntiture, the screen is entirely red with occasional green, and almost no visible image. a diagnostic visit from a place like best buy will cost 150$ on sale, cable technicians came out twice and were not sure of the problem. it’s just not what i expect of a brand name like samsung, i dropped 1500$ on this set, and would expect it to work perfectly right out of the box. now, 8 months later, im already thinking of a new major purchase to save msyelf the headache of dealing with parts, technicians, diagnostics, not to metion the hours of aggravation over the phone with call centers. this time maybe a plasma tv. this was a bad purchase.

The price was lower than most stores advertised price and the clarity of this TV is unmatched. I made the correct choice-no doubt about it.

Samsung is High Quality
The reason I bought the A630 over the A650 was due to the Reflective Screen the 650 has. I didnt want to have any glare. The 650 won many awards on CNET.com which I trust. This TV is extremely clear and looks great too.

I figured I would pay an extra 300-400 more $$ and buy a TV that would last me a while compared to a cheaper $800-900 off brand.

Love the TV and it was shipped with the box in great condition and on time. Excellent experience overall.

Sorry to say the delivery man just came back today to take it back to Amazon Warehouse. VERY bad picture, blurry, ghosting, all around it has a bad choice. It’s a lower end model and it showed.

Do not buy Samsung
I purchased a Samsung television about eighteen months ago. Two weeks ago the picture became all distorted. Since my television warranty was through Circuit City I had no choice but to call a television repair person out to look at it. As soon as he walked in the door he knew what the issue was. He told me that the part would cost almost as much as the television and that his recommendation was to throw away the television and purchase another one. After doing some research I discovered that there were quite a few Samsung televisions that were going out and that the parts were on backorder for about a month. Samsung was also not helpful. I trying to discuss this with SamsungTweets on Twitter, but he blocked me when I asked why nobody called me like he said they would. The only other answer I got from Samsung was that I needed to take it to a service center; this is after I told them that a television repair person had looked at it. From what I can tell from looking on television repair forums, Samsung televisions look to be pretty flakey.

Samsung’s LED Based DLP sets Completely Destroy LCDs, Head to Head.
There’s no contest, and it’s a crying shame that these sets are a fast dying breed. 1080p, 120hz, HDMI 1.3 support, and an inherently faster refresh rate than ANY LCD panel produced and you’ve got by far and beyond the absolute best HDTV to reproduce any blu-ray that exists.

Having seen blu-ray on 120hz LCDs, I quickly developed a distaste for the image which due to the problems inherent in digital displays, the look and feel of film had completely disappeared. Pirates of The Carribean: At World’s End, looked like it was shot with a nice HD Camera and forgot to undergo the post production processing that makes it film.

However, when it comes to watching HD Video (like HD off-air broadcasts or HD Satellite TV) this set is no slouch. Watching college football on ESPN or CBS will make you cry and almost forget about buying season tickets. The color palette is incredible and the blacks are BLACK, not dark gray or charcoal.

For reference sake, I’m using a Dishnetwork ViP 211 HD Satellite receiver, a Pioneer BDP-51FD Blu-Ray player (best you can by for under $1000, I promise you) and both are jacked in with Accell Ultra Pro AV 2m HDMI 1.3 cables, capable of slinging 10.2 Gbits per second, just like the Monster Cable 1000 HDMI cables for 3 times the price.

I have no regrets. You can take your LCDs and shove ‘em!!

Great TV except when the scene is dark
I bought this TV several months back from Vann’s for $1200 including (no)tax and delivery. Price was good, delivery was prompt and the TV has been free of defects. The picture is fantastic when the scene is bright. Outdoor documentaries in HD are matchless. However dark scenes sometimes appear too dark. Though last night I watched The Departed with the TV set on Dynamic and the picture was quite outstanding throughout. I wish I could give it 4 stars instead of 3, but I can’t seem to make that editorial change.

mine is a lemon
When the tv was working, I generally liked it purely because of its size and price. Getting a good brightness and color setting for the screen is challenging. There is a very narrow range of view angles for optimal quality – directly in front of the screen and near eye-level. Otherwise, the picture is dim. It’s frustrating to see such a big difference just from standing versus sitting in the same spot. I haven’t had any other DLPs to compare this to.

I can’t comment on HD. SD is acceptable for normal programming, although I’m sure HD would look snazzy. Sports can be frustrating to watch at this size in SD, though.

The #1 problem with mine is that the volume spontaneously goes all the way up to 100, and unplugging the set for several minutes is the only solution. This happened within an hour of getting it off the truck, but then didn’t happen again for maybe a month. After it had happened a few times, I called Samsung for repairs. After 2.5 weeks in the shop, it just came back today – worse than before. I had it on for ~15 minutes at a time, then the volume cranked up and it had to be unplugged for several minutes. So for now, its only use is as a big expensive digital photo viewer.

It’s probably a bad sign that while this tv was in the shop for two and a half weeks, I really didn’t miss it.

Best TV for the Money
After nearly 5 months of ownership, I have yet to find a flaw. The picture is far brighter than most DLP’s I’ve viewed and will rival LCDs and plasmas, minus the high power consumption and the heat generated by these flat screens. If you take the time to fiddle with the audio controls and customize it, the built-in speakers can also provide good sound (although if you had a tv this good, you’d really want to pair it with at least a 5.1 surround system). I hope Samsung continues to evolve the DLP LED series because from what I’ve seen, this is a truly worthwhile technology.

Excellent quality HD picture, but no HD cable
Excellent quality TV. OTA (Over The Air) HD picture looks great. Also has two RF (coax) inputs – one for OTA and one for cable TV. The only downside is the lack of Clear QAM (unscrambled cable HD) signals.

Bad product, not durable
I bought this TV after much research. It looks great, has a great picture and features. HOWEVER, after seven months it is starting to exhibit extreme problems. Plasmas are known to ghost. Typically this memory is not intrusive if you limit your time on channels like ESPN or other channels with tickers or graphics. After seven months this TV ghosts so bad that it has a lingering burn image after watching the loacal TV news. That’s right, the trasitory graphics from local news leaves a ghost image. Even worse the pixels do not release the image and the TV displays red and green noise after the image is gone or in dark scenes DURING A MOVIE. If the movie cuts from bright to dark the pixels don’t release and there is red and green “snow” in all the dark areas. This is after seven months of careful and light use. The money you save for Plasma over LCD is not worth it with this set. I would love to go back and undue this buy. I have a lot of experience with plasmas at work as well as at home. This is the least durable I have ever seen. DO NOT BUY. look at the other reviews that list this same problem. THIS IS A BAD SET.

Outstanding!!!
I love this plasma tv! I have had it for about 9 months, and I have it wall mounted in my basement with all the cables hidden in the wall. It is sleek looking and has an awesome picture! No cons that I can think of.

Shame on Samsung
I purchased this TV from amazon in Oct. of ‘06. As others have reported I was very pleased with the picture and other elements of this product.

The other day the TV just died. No problem, I thought. It’s still under warranty. I can call them, and they’ll send out someone to repair it. I called Samsung support, and they created a repair ticket. They said they would call me back when their service locator was available. That took two days….a little irritating that it took that long to get me the name of a service center in my area that could perform the work, but it was nothing compared to the frustration to follow.

I called the service center to setup an appointment for the technician to come out, but they said “sorry, you are out of our service area. We can’t come out.” I called Samsung support back and asked for a service center in my area. They stated there weren’t any. HUH??? I live 25 miles outside of the 8th largest city in the U.S. (San Diego) and the only service center in my area is 60 miles outside of San Diego proper? That didn’t seem right, so I called again and had another support person check. No….that is the closest one, and did I mention they don’t service my area!!! The only recourse Samsung was able to offer was they would have to submit paperwork to get “executive approval” to have someone from the service center sent out for the repair. This would take 7 to 10 BUSINESS DAYS. Are you f@!*%$$& kidding me!!!??? That is completely unacceptable. I can’t imagine any company having the arrogance to suggest such a thing to a customer…”sure, we’ll get back to you in a couple of weeks.” No thanks, I think I’ll take my business elsewhere. I immediately asked to speak with someone higher up to get this problem escalated. The support person connected me with Executive level support, but they were just as ineffectual, saying the best they could do was to mark the request as urgent. I think we know how much that is going to change things.

Obviously, Samsung has a process that is almost completely broken. To make a customer wait up to two weeks to have a repair ticket approved is mind numbingly ridiculous. Add to that the time it may take to complete the repair, and it could conceivably add up to three weeks or more. This is what I spent $2,400 for? Samsung will never see another penny from this consumer, and I’ll do my best to steer other potential customers away from such egregious customer service.

Company Complaint – LOVE the TV – Please read.
I love this TV! I own two 50″, and one 42″…I was trying to order another 42″. What I absolutely HATE is this company. Amazon claims there’s a glitch in their system which won’t allow me to leave feedback for this company, so this is my only means of doing so. Here’s the story:

First, understand that my wife and I have been Amazon customers for over 2 years.

After 15 days of waiting, 9 phone calls to LCDMART, and 3 phone calls to Amazon, I finally cancelled the order for my plasma screen through Amazon.

The SAME day I cancelled the order, I FINALLY received a call from LCDMART and the representative told me that I’d receive my TV within 3 business days, and that he was emailing me a tracking number. He claimed that Amazon takes 10 business days to submit orders to his company…from experience, I find that very hard to believe. I waited until the following day, and not having received my tracking number, I called yet again, and was told by John at LCDMART that he was emailing me a tracking number immediately. I did not receive it, so I called YET AGAIN, and was told that I would not receive a tracking number until the following day. I asked “How can I receive the TV by tomorrow if you don’t have a tracking number today?” I then asked when I would receive the TV. I was told, “I don’t know.”

I asked to cancel my order, and the representative for LCDMART said, “No. I can’t cancel your order.” I repeat, he said, “NO!”

After a few choice words, and my persistent demand that my order be cancelled, he put me on hold, then told me my order was cancelled.

This company is doing Amazon a great disservice, and is damaging its reputation. LCDMART did not return a single phone message, or email inquiry.

I’m sure LCDMART will find some reason to make me look like an unreasonable customer, but read the reviews…I’m not the first to experience this, and this “feedback bug” appears to have been in effect since 5/2007, so NO feedback, negative or positive, has been submitted to this company since then.

Buy the product, you’ll be happy. Just don’t use LCDMART.

Best Bang for the Buck
Have had it for 6 months, everything is perfect. Easily the best $[...] I’ve ever spent. Believed it to be the best value in an HDTV back when I was doing my research before I bought it, now I’m SURE of it. Get off the fence if you’re on it and buy this one!

Very nice TV
We got this TV about 6 months ago and have been enjoying it ever since then. It’s a wonderful product and my wife and I both like it very much. Now we are considering getting an even bigger one in the coming holiday season. Five stars in my eyes, no doubt.

Do not buy this TV!!
After having the television for 6 months, it has died on me! It started with a funky hot pink and green “static” along with a loud noise that can only be described as speaker feedback and it has now died. I cannot even get it to turn on when I press the power button, but if I leave it plugged in it just turns on randomly, sometimes with a picture, sometimes not, but it always ends up going to a weird color and making that noise. Luckily, I am still covered by the manufacturer warranty and have a technician coming out tomorrow to fix it, but what happens if it dies again and I’m not covered?

How can I trust that it won’t happen again? When you buy an expensive television such as this, you want to at least be able to trust it will be working for at least 3-5 years!

I don’t think that’s too much to ask! So please, save yourself some misery and go another route. This is not the TV for you!

Samsung 40in 1080p LCD
The seller shipped this item quickly. When I set it up in my bedroom I was amazed by the picture. The P-I-P worked, wished there was a way to get sound or switch between main image and P-I-P. I’d suggested setting up with external speakers if in a living room. Over all I’m very happy with this purchase.

Best $800 Flat Panel LCD I could find
My goal when my old faithful TV finally gave up the ghost was to buy the best $800 TV I could find. I purchased this Samsung on April 7, 2009 for $849 and I am happy to say I think I succeeded. I was lucky that CR magazine just featured flat panel TVs in the March issue and this set ranked third in its class (first was the 42 inch version of the same TV). It’s sleek and beautiful.

For me, the picture is great. I don’t have any HD, but this set’s standard definition picture quality makes me believe that HD would be awesome.

Audiophiles may not like the sound quality of the speakers, but most of them will channel their sets through surround sound systems anyway.

I think this TV is an excellent value and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
